A Mid Winter Lunch in Downtown Chattanooga TN

We have several new Mid-Winter items that we are very excited about, and they happen to come together as an excellent lunch. They're all a little different, pulling in wider influences to spice up our lunch menu. None of them loose that essential Southern quality, however, of being ultra comforting. Next time you come to Public House for lunch, leave your car with the free Warehouse Row valet, slip inside, and leave your workday behind for one meal. These items are perfect for lunching with a friend-- one appetizer to share, a sandwich to enjoy, and a creamy side to savor.

Start off with the 5 Spice Pork Belly is delicious with a twist. The melt-in-your-mouth pork belly is a familiar flavor and sensation, but the dusting of Chinese 5 Spice gives it a warm, exotic hint you won't find in grandma's kitchen. It comes with Squash Chow Chow, which grandmother would be sure to approve of, and a fresh house-made cracker prepared by Michael Lindley himself. It's the right blend of savory from the pork, sweet and tangy from the squash, and crunchy from the cracker, and just the right size to share without spoiling your appetite for what comes next.

One of our newest sandwiches is the Salmon Club, which comes topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and just the right amount of flavorful Green Goddess dressing. It's got the same filling umami comfort factor as a burger, but it's just different enough for a fun change of pace, not to mention the superfood factor from the fresh fish. We always love to find a new way to approach a classic, and this take on the club sandwich has been a big hit. It comes with fries, but if you want to substitute one of our newest seasonal sides, you're more than welcome to do so.

If you're going to sub in something from the Local Produce and Sides section we suggest the new Sweet Potato and Goat Cheese Gratin. If you already love the Roasted Beets and Goat Cheese that are often on our menu, you'll love this new mix of sweet root veg and mellow, creamy goat cheese. Thin slabs of firm sweet potato are layered with a melty goat cheese gratin sauce that's neither too thick nor too soupy. It's just the right texture compliment to the sweet potato, and balances the sweet and savory flavors.

After lunch you and your dining companions can have a gentle reintroduction to the outside world. Simply pick up your car from the valet in the breezeway and make your way back to home or the office. One thing's for sure, you'll have both the fuel to power through your afternoon and the kind of peace of mind that only a good meal in good company can provide.
